Abstract

This paper examines the complex relationship among language, culture, and society within the Language, Culture, and Society program. It explores the impact of language on societal dynamics, including identity, social divisions, and written communication, drawing from theoretical perspectives and methodological insights. Utilizing resources like "Language Files" and "Resisting Linguistic Imperialism in English Teaching," alongside recent Manipur studies, it provides a comprehensive analysis of language functioning across diverse settings. Recent Manipur studies highlight the importance of indigenous languages in preserving cultural heritage and fostering community cohesion, as well as the role of linguistic diversity in promoting social inclusion and equitable education access. By focusing on Indian contexts, this study contributes to understanding human interactions and sheds light on language's role in shaping societal dynamics, with implications for education and social cohesion.
