The 310 validly filed copies of questionnaire was retrieved for analysis using descriptive and simple regression technique. This study found that risk taking and autonomy exert significant positive effect on SMEs performance in the state at 5 percent significance level. Thus study recommend that SMEs should be supported by relevant Kwara state government agencies in taking more calculated  risk so that when there is a plausibly divergence between actual and intended performance as a result of the risk-taking.
